This abstract (double) portrait was created in collaboration with a visitor to my studio in fall 2021. Following a standardized process based on my Collaborative Drawing Experiment, we first created the underdrawing together using Sennelier oil pastels. I then completed the work alone, after the other participant had left, using oil paint and mediums.
The other/self series explores the relational aspects of co-authorship while intimately examining attachment, boundaries, and the (queer) gaze.
